• Alexander’s father is Philip II of Macedon. Alexander’s mother is Olympias. The night before the consummation of Philip and Olympias’ marriage, Olympias dreamed a thunderbolt fell upon her body, which kindled a great fire, whose divided flames dispersed themselves all about, and then were extinguished.
